valuable resource for education, research and treatment
of Sensory processing Disorder (SPD). We have created a
user-friendly forum where parents can ask questions “Ask
an OT”, talk with other parents and professionals “SIERF Chat
room, and gain insight regarding SPD and other sensory
disorders through our newsletters, chat transcript and
“Ask the OT” Bulletin Board. SIERF is a 501 © 3 Non-profit
Corporation whose vision is to raise awareness of SPD, a
disorder that affects 5-15% of the general population.
Individuals with SPD have a masked potential that is not
often realized. As the disorder goes undiagnosed, it is often
characterized as behaviors rather than physical symptoms.
Many individuals don’t receive the help they need to remove
the barriers that prevent them from being successful in life.
Our philosophy is that every individual impacted with SPD or
related disorders, has the right to appropriate services.
