The Baton Rouge Children’s Health Project is under the direction of Stewart Gordon, MD, Chief of Pediatrics at Earl K. Long Medical Center. Heidi Sinclair, MD is the Medical Director and Toni Bankston, LCSW is Director of Mental Health. This critical endeavor is a partnership between the LSU Health Sciences Center – Pediatrics Department and the Children’s Health Fund in New York.

The Baton Rouge Children’s Health Project was established to provide accessible health care services to underserved children and adolescents impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Our staff considers the whole person when evaluating the need for care. That is, the mental health and physical health of the child are equally important. Also, critical to better health and wellness is the quality of family life and social supports available to the young person. Because our clinics are on wheels, we go to where the children are to ensure their access to a medical home.

Our Primary Care and Community Support and Resiliency mobile units come to you to provide medical care and mental health services for children.
