SIERF continues to search
for funds to provide therapy services to the children affected
by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Please consider helping us fund
services for Ryan.
Meet six year old Ryan Songy and his dad, David
Songy. His family was affected by Hurricane Katrina and had been
living in trailer in Convent, Louisiana for the thirteen months.
Ryan was diagnosed with Asbergers and sensory processing disorder.
He has not received the appropriate therapy that addresses his
sensory processing issues. His family is concerned that he will
be unable to adapt in school setting because of his inability
to quiet his body or voice, tolerate anyone near his left side,
and becoming physically aggressive when exposed to specific noises
e.g. crying. When his senses are aroused he acts out by hitting,
pinching and biting the person next to him. Ryan expressed to
his parents one day “that he wanted to die.”
The Songy family has moved out of the trailer community
into house in Baton Rouge. Ryan’s psychiatrist has recommended
that he receives occupational therapy services. We need your help
in providing therapy for Ryan. Donate today!!!!!
